The Effects of Changes of Upper Central Nerve and Spinal Motor Nerve by Go/Nogo Task on Exercise Performance and Motor Control
ABSTRACT
The purpose of the study was to examine the effects of changes of upper central nerve and spinal motor nerve by Go/Nogo task on the exercise performance and motor control. This study was conducted on 20 healthy undergraduates(26.10±3.70 yrs) who have not participated in regular exercises. Changes in event-related potentials(ERPs) and H reflex were recorded in a process of a Go/Nogo task, where a time-series analysis was made, and motor performance and control were reviewed at the levels of the upper central nervous system and the spinal column, respectively. The results of the study are as follows: First, after S2 stimulus to the upper central nervous system, Go/Nogo showed differences between 154 ms and 278 ms and between 316 ms and 452 ms. Second, after S2 stimulus to the spinal column, H-reflex amplitude increased from 150 ms with respect to Go task. With respect to Nogo task, however, time-series changes were not observed. Therefore, this study found that a difference occurred between Go/Nogo about 150 ms after S2 stimuli were given to the upper central nervous system and the spinal column, which implies that a Go/Nogo decision is made at least before the N2 component.
