Development of 1-RM prediction equation and evaluation criteria for weight training on adults male
ABSTRACT
Lee, B.K., Hwang, J.M., & Kim, Y.K. Development of 1-RM prediction equation and evaluation criteria for weight training on adults male. Exercise Science. 16(2): 151-164, 2007. The purpose of this study were to extract main movement among weight training movements on adult male, to develop the 1-RM equation of different movements from the main movement, and to exploit the evaluation criteria of relative 1-RM and total 1-RM. The subjects were adult male 97 persons of 21.4±32.4 months experienced training(25.2±6.1yrs, 174.8±5.4cm, 72.7±9.2kg). The 1-RM of 10 movements were measured. The factor analysis were used for extraction the selected movement among weight training movements. The regression analysis were used for development the 1-RM equation. And the 1-RM criteria of each and total movements were developed. As a results of factor analysis, the relative important of bench press were the highest on total movements, and the ones of triceps extension and back squat were the highest on upper and lower body movements. The equations used bench press were significant on all of 9 movements, and the equations used triceps extension and back squat were significant on 8 and 9 movements. On aspects of coefficient of variation, the equation of triceps extension was fit for 7 movements. The evaluation criteria of 1-RM on each movements and total movements were developed. It was concluded that the satisfied 1-RM equation of different movements were made by main movements, and the maximum strength criteria were presented by relative 1-RM
Key words: weight training, 1-RM, prediction equation, evaluation criteria
