Effects of Pilates mat exercise and detraining on metabolic hormone and coronary artery disease risk factor in Obese Middle Aged Women
ABSTRACT
The aim of this research was study the effects of Pilates mat exercise and detraining on metabolic hormone and coronary artery disease risk factor in the middle-aged obese women. The subjects of this research were twenty middle-aged obese women(% body fat is more than 30%) without any metabolic diseases and haven't had regular and vigorous physical activities for the last six months. In order to determine the effects of Pilates mat exercise and detraining on metabolic hormone and coronary artery disease risk factor, subjects were randomly divided into two groups; Exercise group(n=10) and Control group(n=10). The subjects of exercise group were required to performed Pilates mat exercise 3 times a week for 90 minutes for 10 weeks, and they were restricted any physical activities for the 4 weeks(Detraining periods), All subjects of this study were examined the changes in metabolic hormone(leptin, insulin), coronary artery disease risk factor(body weight, body fat mass, body mass index, TC, TG). The results of the study in the exercise group were as follows; The leptin, insulin, body weight, body fat mass, body mass index, TC, TG had significantly decreased. After detraining, there was a significantly difference in changes of body fat mass, TC in exercise group. These metabolic adaptations could be prevent the hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, and coronary sclerosis.
Key words: pilates mat exercise, metabolic hormone, coronary artery disease risk factor
