Jang, C.H. Effect of badminton exercise on O2max, %fat and blood components in middle-aged man. Excise Science, 11(2): 515-524, 2002. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects on O2max, %fat, and blood components after the badminton exercise program of six months in middle-aged man. The subjects were consisted of 6 middle-aged man(42.83±1.47 yrs, 166.5±4.18 cm, 64.42±7.42 kg). There were significantly increased in O2max, HRmax, Emax, and HDL-C between pre and post six months badminton exercise(p<.05). There were significantly decreased in %fat, total cholesterol, LDL-C between pre and post six months badminton exercise(p<.05).From the results of this study, the long term exercise program not only bring out the improvement of cardiorespiratory function, but also reduction of weight, %fat, and blood components. It can be considered that if one were participated at aerobic exercises such as badminton for a long time, then cardiorespiratory function can be improved, and obesity and chronic illness can be prevented.
