Effects of aerobic exercise on cardiopulmonary-related factors in exercise-induced hypertension patients
ABSTRACT
Kim, Y.J., & Shin, Y.O. Effects of aerobic exercise on cardiopulmonary- related factors in exercise-induced hypertension patients. Exercise Science, 16(2): 131-140, 2007. The main objective of this study is to investigate the effect of aerobic exercise on cardiopulmonary- related factors in exercise-induced hypertension patients. Coronary artery disease patients were divided two groups; exercise-induced hypertension group(EIH, n=11) and control group(CON, n=12), all patients performed aerobic exercise for 14 weeks. Before and after experiment, heart rate, blood pressure, body composition, peak oxygen consumption were measures at resting and during exercise stress test. The results are as follows. 1. After exercise, heart rate was decreased significantly in CON but not in EIH. 2. Blood pressure was decreased significantly in both groups. But, there were some differences between groups, resting Blood pressure was decreased significantly in CON but not in EIH and maximal blood pressure was decreased significantly in EIH but not in CON. 3. After exercise, rate-pressure product was decreased significantly in both groups and pattern was similar to changes of blood pressure. 4. Peak oxygen consumption and exercise time were increased significantly in both groups after exercise, but obesity-related factors were not changed in both groups. In conclusion, aerobic exercise in EIH and CON accompanied by coronary artery disease have beneficial effects on cardiopulmonary-related factors even though there was some differences.
