Effects of combined training according to HbA1c on atherogenic indices and cardiovascular disease risk factors in the type 2 diabetes mellitus
ABSTRACT
Kim, H.D., Kim, D.J. Effects of combined training according to HbA1c on atherogenic indices and cardiovascular disease risk factors in the type 2 diabetes mellitus. Exercise Science, 16(4): 369-382, 2007. The purpose of this study was an analysis of changes of atherogenic indices and cardiovascular disease risk factors after combined training according to HbA1c of 12 weeks in the type 2 diabetes mellitus[HbA1c <6% group(n=14), 6~6.9% group(n= 13), ≥7% group(n=17)]. Combined training of 12weeks was a consisted of aerobic exercise and resistance exercise as duration of 30~60m/d, the frequency of 4~5d/w. We measured variables were glucose, HbA1c, T-C/HDL-C, LDL- C/HDL-C, TG/HDL-C, body composition, hs-CRP, heart rate, blood pressure, treadmill exercise time and reduce amount of glucose and HbA1c. Results of this study were as follows; In atherogenic indices, HbA1c <6% group were significant different than that HbA1c 6~6.9% group and HbA1c ≥7% group in the T-C/HDL-C and TG/HDL-C factors. In cardiovascular disease risk factors, HbA1c <6% group were significant different than that HbA1c 6~6.9% group and HbA1c ≥7% group in the percent body fat, WHR, glucose, treadmill and exercise time factors. 12weeks combined training according to reduce amount of glucose and HbA1c appeared that ≥7% group, 6~6.9% group, and <6% group are in the order of priority. In conclusion, 12weeks combined training is beneficial to improves atherogenic indices and cardiovascular disease risk factors in the middle-aged type 2 diabetes mellitus men.
Key words: HbA1c, combined training, atherogenic indices.
