Expression patterns of cytokine and chemokine-related genes in rat intestine based on exercise intensity.
ABSTRACT
Microarray analysis using DNA chip is one of the brand new technology to analyze the effects of exercise on cells and organs of human body or animal in sports science. Our result of we found the increased expression of chemokines and they showed similar patterns both in low and high-intensity trained rats. In cluster 6, the expression level of inflammatory chemokines was increased 10 times in high-intensity trained rats compared to low-intensity trained rats and RT-PCR analysis showed similar gene expression patterns with microarray result. Our data indicate that exercise influences the pattern of immune-related gene expression of intestine. It was shown that high-intensity exercise has a potential to induce inflammatory response and stress is more critical factor than the intensity of exercise in determining expressing pattern of immune system of intestine during low-intensity exercise. In conclusion, it is necessary to minimize the stresses and high intensity training to prevent the negative side effects of exercise.
