Correlations of combined exercise-induced weight loss with cardiorespiratory fitness and angiogenesis factors.
ABSTRACT
The purpose of current study was to investigate the correlations of combined exercise-induced weight loss with cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) and angiogenesis factors in middle-aged women. The combined exercise program(circuit weight training and aerobic exercise) were provided at a frequency of 3 sessions and 5 sessions, respectively, per week for a duration of 12 weeks. Then, the subjects were classified into either those whose weight loss belonged to low 25 percentile (low 25% group, n=11) or those whose weight loss belonged to high 25 percentile (high 25% group, n=11) based on the amount of weight loss induced by the exercise training. Statistical analyses showed that both groups had significant improvements in CRF. On the other hand, the high 25% group had a significant reduction in serum VEGF and greater improvements in body composition parameters as compared with those of the low 25% group. In conclusion, the findings of the present study are 1) that the combined exercise-induced weight loss were not relate to CRF and 2) that the combined exercise-induced weight loss were positively relate to serum VEGF and PAI-1.
