Effects of diaphrgm breathing and garlic power intake on pulmonary fuhction, blood lipids and adiponectin in middle-aged male smokers |

ABSTRACT |
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of diaphragm breathing and garlic powder intake on pulmonary function, blood lipids and adiponectin in middle-aged male smokers from the age 40-49. Diaphragm breath training was 2-5grade intensity on dyspnoea scale for 20 minutes four times a week for 4 weeks and subjects were given garlic at 3 g of powder after breakfast and dinner two times a day during the 4 weeks. The conclusions of this study are as follows; Diaphragm breathing group and diaphragm breathing+garlic intake group increased in FVC. Diaphragm breathing+garlic intake group increased in HDL-C. Garlic intake group decreased in LDL-C. Diaphragm breathing+garlic intake group increased in adiponectin. The result of this study show that diaphragm breath training and garlic intake partly improves body composition, pulmonary function, blood lipidsand adiponectin in middle-aged male smokers. These therapies would be a positive effect not only on smokers but also on non-smokers with respect to improvement of health care. |
