ABSTRACT
Kim, D. J. The effects of the endurance training on blood component and oxygen transports capacity at resting and exercise stress test in cycle athletes. Exercise science, 12(4): 575-586, 2003. The purpose of this study was to compare the endurance training on blood component and oxygen transports capacity at resting and exercise stress test in cycle athletes. The subjects consisted 38 middle school students who was aged 14-16years were checked by medical process, and exercise stress testing. Subjects were divided into 2 groups such as cycle athletes group(n=19), and control group(attending school, n=19). They were tested on the blood volume(CBC analysis) and oxygen transports capacity (exercise stress test). Statistical analysis was performed using analysis of independent t-test. Results of this study were as follows; In the blood component, RBC, Hb, Hct, MCV, and MCH were showed significantly higher in the cycle athletes group than control group. In the during exercise stress test, heart rate, oxygen uptake, ventilation, and VE/MVV were checked by automatic gas analyzer. In results, cycle athletes group were showed higher than control group. Results of this study indicate that the blood components and oxygen transports capacity was improved by cycle activity in adolescents. This study is excepted to contribute for generalization of cycle activity to for all.
Key words: Blood component, oxygen transports capacity, cycle athletes, endurance training.
