The Synergy Effect of Combined Treatment of Dehydroepiandrosteron Administration and Swimming Exercise on Blood Lipid Profile, Glucose, and Insulin in Rats
ABSTRACT
Kim, D.Y., Ann, E.S. The Synergy Effect of Combined Treatment of Dehydroepiandrosteron Administration and Swimming Exercise on Blood Lipid Profile, Glucose, and Insulin in Rats. Exercise Science, 14(4): 505-514, 2005. The purpose of this study was to examine the Synergy effects of a combined treatment of DHEA administration and swimming exercise on blood lipids profile, glucose, and insulin in S.D rats(8 weeks) during 4 weeks. Twenty-four male S.D rats were randomly assigned to four groups(n=6) CON, DHEA, EX, and DHEA+EX. DHEA-treatment rats were given orally for 4week with 25mg/kg body weight of DHEA suspended in sodium CMC(carboxy methylcellulose) suspension. Exercised rats swim on special manufactured glass case for 30min. After 4week treatment, rats were killed by anesthesia. We extracted blood of 6ml in rat's abdominal aorta. Blood samples were immediately centrifuged for 10min at 2000rpm, and the serum stored at -70℃ until analyze. Results of this study were following. DHEA administration significantly(p<0.01) decreased serum DHEAS level. Swimming exercise significantly decreased body weight(p<0.05), serum insulin(p<0.001), TG(p<0.01) and AI(p<0.05) level. Combined treatment of DHEA administration and swimming exercise significantly decreased in body weight(p<0.05), serum insulin(p<0.001), TG(p<0.05), TC(p<0.01), LDL-C(p<0.01), AI(p<0.05) level and increased DHEAS(p<0.05).
Key words: DHEA(S), synergy effect, swimming exercise
