The effects of weight and treadmill exercise sequence on cardiovascular responses, blood lactic acid concentration and energy expenditure
ABSTRACT
Cho, H.C., Eom, W.S., Choi, D.H. The Effects of Weight and Treadmill Exercise Sequence on Cardiovascular Responses, blood lactic acid concentration and Energy Expenditure. Exercise Science, 16(4): 355-368, 2007. This study is an analysis conducted on 18 female college students to see how the changes of orders of weight exercise(WE) and treadmill exercise (TE) affect to heart rate, blood pressure, blood lactic acid concentration, and energy expenditure. The result is shown in follow. 1) When the orders of WE and TE were changed, similar changes were shown between heart rate check periods(p<.001), 2) When the orders of WE and TE were changed, similar changes were shown between blood pressure check periods(p<.001). 3) When the orders of WE and TE were changed, similar changes were shown between blood lactic acid concentration check periods(p<.001), 4) When the orders of WE and TE changed, similar changes were shown between energy expenditure check periods(p<.001), 5) When the orders of WE and TE were changed, the total energy expenditure between two experiments showed no similar changes. Therefore, through the result from this experiment I have found that the TE's orders after the WE exercise is more significant for reducing blood lactic acid concentration than the orders of the EW's orders after the TE. It is desirable to do the TE after the WE, and it can also help consuming much energy in order to lose body fat for over weight people or female. Meanwhile, since the TE's orders after the WE showed a little changes of blood pressure during the contraction period and the relaxation period compare to the TE's orders after the WE.
Key words: Weight exercise, Treadmill exercise, 1RM(Repetition Maximum), Energy expenditure.
