Effects of Aerobic Exercise and Combined Exercise on Serum Lipid and Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate in Obese High school Girls.
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of the application of exercise program types on serum lipid and erythrocyte sedimentation rate in obese high school girls for 12 weeks. 16 obese female students with BMI over 25 kg/m2 took part in either the aerobic exercise or combined exercise group. Each group has reached statistical significant increase in height (p<.001) and BMI (p<.05). Both groups have reduced weight and the fat percentage but do not show significant decrease statistically. The aerobic exercise group has increased HDL-C (p<.05), but simultaneously decreased LDL-C (p<.01), which are read as a statistical significant change. The combined exercise group has only presented statistically significant decrease of LDL-C (p<.01). Both TC and TG has presented little statistical significant difference. Both the aerobic and combined exercise groups demonstrated the decrease of erythrocyte sedimentation rate. but the combined exercise group showed steeper decline. both groups have presented positive outcome on the body composition and blood level of HDL-C, LDL-C. When we consider that the positive decrease of erythrocyte sedimentation rate through combined exercise group came out to be higher than the aerobic one, combined exercise group had a more positive impact on the condition of blood inflammation.
Key words: Aerobic exercise, Combined exercise, Serum lipid, Erythrocyte sedimentation rate
